I Was There 9/12/09

WASHINGTON: [According to an eyewitness account from Ken H.] I was at the September 12, 2009 rally in Washington D.C. It was a great experience. There were people from all walks of life, from all over the country. I did not see any groups that looked organized or trucked in by special interest groups. The folks I saw and talked to all came by themselves, in their own vehicles.

The mainstream media did not cover this event. The official count was way low. The police who used to count demonstrators refused to do so because of complaints of accuracy. The fire department had a very low count. We asked lots of police and security folks what they thought the count was. The general consensus was summed up by many officials, “There were more people there than any event in the past.” Many estimated the crowd in excess of one million.

The crowd was orderly and there was not one arrest. Also, the area did not have to be cleaned up because the people cleaned up before they left. It was interesting that Obama left town to present some kind of trumped up town hall meeting to draw attention away from this grass roots rally.

There are those who would have you think that this was some sort of put up event, but to our eyes the participants were just like us. Regular people, coming from a far distance in many cases, all with intense feeling about the direction this country is headed in.

I took some photos that I am putting up here. I think even though this event has passed it is important to have eye witness comments. People were everywhere. This event and other similar events really show that there is an amazing amount of opposition to big government and out of control spending.

I was there on 9-12 also. It was my first time at a political rally, and I was hoping to see some really angry people make sparks fly. Unfortunately, while the protesters were emphatic, everyone was very polite and restrained. I guess I’ll have to wait for a liberal protest to see some real depravity.
