800,000 Doses of Vaccine Recalled – Your Government at Work

800,000 H1N1 Vaccines RecalledATLANTA: 800,000 doses of the H1N1 vaccine were recalled today. Another example of fine government-supervised healthcare. First of all, H1N1 is a real catchy name for the flu. The government renamed the “swine” flu to H1N1 to protect the good name of pigs, presumably as a result of a lawsuit by pigs represented by Cass Sunstein, White House Regulatory Czar.

We here at the NIP object to the renaming of this flu in the first place. Being politically correct has no place in public policy when it comes to naming flu strains. Especially since now pigs are calling it “human” flu, since apparently now they are catching it from farmers. Yes, that’s true. According to ChoSun Korea News pigs have now caught the flu from humans:

The first case of pigs infected with swine flu, the type-A form of the H1N1 virus, has been confirmed in Korea. But experts say even eating pork from infected animals is safe so long as it is properly cooked. [Too bad for the pigs, ed.]

The Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries on Monday said pigs raised at five farms in the country and six breeding pigs imported from Canada late last month were infected with the H1N1 virus, and the movement of pigs in the areas has been restricted…

A ministry official said it is unclear how they became infected but presumably the virus was transmitted by humans… The ministry decided not to cull the infected pigs. “Pigs infected with H1N1 virus normally recover about seven days after showing slight symptoms including fever,” an official said. [Lucky for them. Unlucky for us. ed.]  Chosen Korea News

Today we learned that 800,000 doses of the H1N1 vaccine needed recalling. No worries though to you and me. The doses were for young children 3 and under. How exactly do they recall a vaccine? Is it like a GM recall, you take your baby into the dealership for a free tuneup? Reportedly very few of the doses are left to recall as most of them have been administered.

Very reassuring. A preview of government healthcare to come.

The makers said it doesn’t work as well as real live virus anyway!
