Poland Mourns, Obama Golfs, Iran Prepares Striking Capacity

Obama Golfs While Poland Mourns

Obama Golfs While Poland Mourns

ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE: While 38 million Poles mourned the tragic deaths of their President Lech Kaczynski, his wife, Maria, and dozens of top Polish government officials, last Sunday Barack Obama decided it was an opportune time to take in his 32nd round of golf since becoming President. President Obama is as good at offending our allies as he is in bowing to our enemies.

Last month Obama snubbed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his visit to the White House. Barack Obama was mad that the Israelis did not fall in line with Obama’s order to cease settlements in Jerusalem, their nation’s capital. Obama’s dictate was meant to show the Arab world his power over the Israelis. The NIP further speculates that their disagreement also extended to Obama’s buying time for the Iranians to arm themselves with nuclear weapons.

A newly declassified Pentagon report warns that Iran will have ICBM capacity to strike the US with nuclear weapons within five years. Defense Secretary Robert Gates acknowledged that this administration has no effective plan or policy to prevent Iran from building nuclear weapons. Iran’s regime has repeatedly made clear their desire to wipe Israel off the map, and with ICBMs able to reach the US could attacks on the Great Satan be far behind?

Last year Obama cancelled Poland’s missile shield, exposing Eastern Europe to Iran’s nuclear threat. With Iran’s nukes looming and US striking capacity just a few years away, it may soon be time for Poland to golf while the US mourns.

US Anti-ballistic Workers About to Be Laid Off

US Anti-ballistic Workers to Be Laid Off

MOSCOW: Russia rejoiced today as the US Senate abandoned its duty to protect the interests of the United States by ratifying the New START Treaty:

“We have to give credit to Barack Obama and his team, who exerted such momentous efforts to ensure START ratification in the Senate. Along with Democrat senators, they managed to secure its inclusion in the agenda of the so-called “lame duck session”. And still, the fate of the document was far from certain just a few days ago. Amid the consequent fierce debate, the Republicans started to issue amendments, which could have virtually buried the treaty. Among them was the proposal to withdraw a paragraph concerning links between strategic offensive and defensive weapons. The Voice of Russia

For the first time in US history this lame duck session of Congress ratified a major international treaty. US citizens have overwhelmingly rejected the authority of this Congress in the last election, they should have no authority to bind the US into any treaty, much less one of this magnitude. Proponents say the treaty will make the world a safer place. We disagree. Here are the basic problems in a nutshell:

  • Treaty limits US ability to research and deploy defensive weapons
  • US has already won the Arms race, we have no need to negotiate with the Russians
  • Treaty elevates Russia to superpower status
  • Treaty does not address Russia’s tactical nuclear weapon superiorty, 10x that of US
  • Verification procedures inadequate
  • Treaty exposes Europe to Russian and Iranian threats
  • Treaty outlaws protection against rogue state missiles, the real 21st century threat

Obama’s letter to the Senate regarding the continued viability of missile defense has as much enforceability as a letter from your grandmother. We understand Russia’s interest in passage of this treaty. After all, the development of an effective nuclear shield would undermine its sales of nuclear materials and technology to Iran. Russia applauded Obama’s cancellation of the Poland’s missile shield shortly after taking office.

If you think you are safer now with the Republicans surge in the last election, just look at this list of Republican defectors:

Ten of the 13 Republican senators who voted yes will be back next year: Lamar Alexander, Scott Brown, Thad Cochran, Susan Collins, Bob Corker, Johnny Isakson, Mike Johanns, Richard Lugar, Lisa Murkowski and Olympia Snowe. Washington Post

The question you should be asking yourself is,  “Why did 71 Senators endorse a treaty that prevents the US from developing a missile shield that would render ballistic nuclear weapons useless?” Find the answer to that question and you probably won’t like the answer.

Obama Sells the US and NATO Down the River

November 30th, 2010 No comments

Obama Scuttles Defense ShieldWARSAW, POLAND: Today the Wall Street Journal revealed (below) that as recently as this spring Russia has been deploying tactical nuclear weapons on the borders of our NATO allies. To understand the issues at stake we need to examine some background.

NATO was formed after WWII primarily as a defense against the Soviets and was proven effective during the cold war, leading to the eventual collapse of the Soviet Union. The United States is the primary funder of NATO and is the most influential member of the alliance. For a deterrent against nuclear deployment NATO relied on the principle of mutually assured destruction, which was effective in preventing nuclear strikes for over 50 years.

Now we have a new game, with Russia and Islamic rogue states in play. The proliferation of nuclear weapons renders the mutually assured destruction defense inoperative. What is required is a new European missile defense system to protect against Russia, Iran and others. In 2007 the US started formal negotiations with Poland and the Czech Republic to construct the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense System to protect against Soviet and Islamic threats. This was the beginning of a new strategy to permanently protect the free countries in Europe from domination and destruction.

Candidate Obama gave lip-service to protecting Europe with this new defense shield:

His position is as it was throughout the campaign, that he supports deploying a missile defence system when the technology is proved to be workable.  Denis McDonough, Foreign policy adviser to Mr Obama BBC News

But just 4 days after his election he revealed that Obama was lying during the campaign on this issue:

Obama denies Poland missile vow. US President-elect Barack Obama has not given a commitment to go ahead with plans to build part of a US missile defence system in Poland, an aide says. BBC News, November 8, 2008.

In September of 2009 Obama officially scuttled the US missile defense shield in Poland and the Czech Republic. This resulted in destroying the long-standing relationship the US has had with one of its strongest allies while buying nothing from the Russians. Read more…

Israel Betrayed by President’s Shift on US Middle East Policy

Obama Lectures Netanyahu

WASHINGTON: Obama’s willingness to offend our allies while coddling our enemies is doing tremendous damage to long-standing alliances that have been in place during both Democratic and Republican administrations. Obama highlighted his shift in Middle East policy in a news conference on April 13th:

It was just a phrase at the end of President Obama’s news conference on Tuesday [April 13th], but it was a stark reminder of a far-reaching shift in how the United States views the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and how aggressively it might push for a peace agreement.

When Mr. Obama declared that resolving the long-running Middle East dispute was a “vital national security interest of the United States,” he was highlighting a change that has resulted from a lengthy debate among his top officials over how best to balance support for Israel against other American interests. Mark Landler and Helene Cooper, NY Times

Obama has placed restrictions on Israeli settlements as a precondition for Middle East peace talks. You may remember when candidate Obama cited his willingness to meet with any totalitarian regime without preconditions, he was rebuffed by Iran who insisted on conditions of their own, embarrassing the United States and winning prestige from the Arab world in the process.

In dealing with our allies Obama is not so generous, our allies must wish they were treated as well as our enemies. Obama wants to call the shots and dictate conditions over Israel’s own capitol city, and he gets mad when he doesn’t get his way. Apparently he’s vindictive and is not afraid to humiliate Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to prove a point. We here at the NIP wish he would be as bold with our enemies as he is with our friends.
