The “DHS Component” column indicates the acronym for the relevant agency, eg USSS = United States Secret Service; FLETC = Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, ICE = Immigration and Customs Enforcement, etc. The chart indicates that DHS has a total of 222,950 employees. It also indicates that of these, 189,362 are exempt. In  In other words,approximately eighty-five percent of DHS employees will continue to go to work. A mere fifteen percent will be temporarily furloughed.

According to the Milwauakee Journal Sentinel:

Windels was charged with two felony counts “bomb scare” and two misdemeanor counts of “computer message-threatening injury/bodily harm.” If convicted, each felony count carries a maximum penalty of three years and six months in prison and a $10,000 fine, and each misdemeanor count carries a maximum penalty of 90 days in prison and a $1,000 fine.

In the video, Schiller compares the Muslim Brotherhood to the women’s movement, calls tea partiers “seriously racist, racist people,” and justifies NPR’s firing of Juan Williams as an action Schiller was “very proud of.” Schiller was accompanied by Betsy Liley, NPR’s Director of Institutional Giving, who compared the experience of the Muslim Brotherhood to Japanese Americans interred in detention camps during WW II. At one point the two Muslim pretenders joke that they and their friends referred to NPR as “National Palestinian Radio.” Schiller and Liley laughed in agreement.

The statements Schiller and Liley make in the video just get better and better, an eye-popping, monument to their towering arrogance and stupidity. The saddest part is that they personify the kind of presumptuous, conceited attitude endemic to the media left.

A group called the Ventura County Coalition of Labor, Agriculture and Business (VC COLAB) detailed these problems in a recent seminar held by the Ventura County Libertarian Party. VC COLAB Executive Director Lynn Gray Jensen cited planned revisions to Ventura County’s Biology Initial Study Assessment Guidelines (ISAG), which they describe as “a lengthy and complex draft of terminology, thresholds, methodology and restrictive covenants to be applied to county projects that are subject to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).” Look at the 210 page document and see if you don’t agree. Simply mind-numbing.

ISAG had identified 19 practices and conditions determined to be “unsustainable.” Imagine yourself a VenturaCountyfarmer who owns a parcel of undeveloped land. You want to grow crops or build a structure, but it has been identified as “protected property” by California’s onerous environmental regulations. The restrictions identified by VC COLAB are nothing short of horrifying. Following is a partial list:

In addition to owners being prohibited, without express approval from the County Planning Director, from conducting normal agricultural activities such as filling, storing and removal of soil and rock; erection of buildings, fencing, corrals and other structures; placement of pavements, stones, gravel, etc., for pathways; and grazing of livestock, property owners must not keep pet animals or operate bicycles, mowers, tractors or any other vehicles (motorized or not) on their land. Other limitations apply to planting, harvesting, landscaping and irrigating. It bears repeating, these restrictions would be applied to the property by way of mandatory deed amendments, and thus remain in place permanently, even as the property is passed on to heirs or is sold.

No bikes? No pets?

Effectively, you couldn’t grow crops, keep livestock or clear a field. Your kids couldn’t even ride their bikes on the land! And if you ever sold or bequeathed it, subsequent owners would be subject to the same restrictions. In other words, your land would essentially be dead. Over time, it would become engulfed in an overgrown tangle, as the land was reclaimed by the wild. Your property value would fall to zero. Right now, this only applies to undeveloped land, but if they can take some of your property this way, why not all of it? The precedent has been set.

This is the exact goal of the Wildlands Project adopted by the UN’s Agenda 21 Biodiversity Treaty, as clearly elucidated by its author, the radical tree-spiking EarthFirst! terrorist, Dave Foreman:

We must make this place an insecure and inhospitable place for capitalists and their projects… We must reclaim the roads and plowed lands, halt dam construction, tear down existing dams, free shackled rivers and return to wilderness millions of tens of millions of acres of presently settled land.

As I have said many times before, these people are insane. But that is not all. A key component in Foreman’s Wildlands Project is the creation of “Wildlife Corridors” or “Wildways.” According to VC COLAB:

Pertaining to Wildlife Corridors, although over fifty percent (approximately 600,000 acres) of the County’s public land is currently preserved for wildlife movement, VenturaCountyis promoting the further expansion of “conservation corridors” to include private lands. As much as 140,000 acres of private property has been targeted for this purpose. The County used a report in their Guidelines produced by South Coast Missing Linkages (SCML), which sets targets for wildlife agencies. This report has not been made available for public review, lacks specifics and, it is feared, will be misused where applied to impacts analysis and restrictive covenants… (Emphases mine.)

Will airports shut down because air traffic controllers have gone on leave? Will those mean Republicans throw granny out in the street when Social Security stops sending payments? Will everyone who receives checks in the mail see their income dry up because the Post Office shuts down?

Will welfare mothers have to feed their children cat food?

The Democrats will tell you that and more. A Google search of “government shutdown” brings up pages describing dire consequences. But if you follow the links you will see that this is more a reflection of leftist web domination than anything else.

The greatest consequence of a government shutdown will be the Democrat-generated media hysteria we will have to put up with unless/until they get their way. They will demagogue at every opportunity, describing fantastic scenes of nationwide anarchy. They will do what they always do, about the only thing they do well, and in fact have already begun doing:

They will lie.

President Obama almost immediately threatened that Social Security checks would stop coming.

He lied.

Think Progress, the archetypical radical left propaganda rag, interviewed freshman Republican Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA), who pooh poohed worries about a government shutdown. They didn’t ask him to qualify, but later attempted to discredit his message:

Kelly’s assertions are simply not true. One need look no further than the federal government shutdown of 1995 for proof. During the nearly four-week shutdown, Social Security checks were not mailed and Medicare/Medicaid reimbursements were disrupted.

They lie.

The first link goes to a Wikipedia entry that describes the 1995 shutdown. No mention of social security checks. The second goes to an article at Talking Points Memo, the hard left smear site. It simply quotes more Democrats, like Clinton Treasury Secretary Robert Reich and Donna Shalala, then HHS Secretary. She said,

“It was a mess, frankly, and devastating to the civil service… It seems to me it’s un-American…”

I find that telling. Her biggest concern is the impact on… government. And what a joke. We are talking about two shutdowns here, one of five days and another of three weeks—merely a long vacation for most government bureaucrats.

Un-American? Well, she should know.

According to TPM, Shalala provided a list of payments that would stop: “Social Security checks, Medicare reimbursements…welfare checks to the state, Medicaid checks to the state.”

She lied.

Republicans also must pound the airwaves with reminders that a government shutdown would be due entirely to Democrat intransigence. Republicans are merely trying to keep their pledge to the American people, who in November of 2010 sent an unmistakable message to the Democrats: knock it off!

This is a critical juncture in our Nation’s history. Republicans must demonstrate some intestinal fortitude for a change. A few days ago, I posted an article demanding that Speaker Boehner put up or shut up by allowing amendments to the Continuing Resolution currently under consideration that would defund Obamacare. Given that the bill passed the House with such provisions, it appears he decided to put up. There are now a number of amendments that have been successfully attached to the CR that will accomplish that goal.

Speaker Boehner and House Republicans, you have the voters on your side, you have the facts on your side, and never in our history has it been more important for you to take a principled stand. Do not back down in the face of the Democrats’ government shutdown threats. We don’t want that, but if Democrats insist on continuing to trash our country, I say, “bring it on!”

The House is currently considering a Continuing Resolution to fund government programs for the rest of the year. A temporary CR was passed in the waning days of the 111th Congress that expires March 4th. Without a new CR the government will then shut down.

Representative Steve King (R-IA) offered an amendment to the CR that would entirely defund Obamacare. What better way to force Democrats to abide by the crystal clear will of the American people than to offer them the stark choice of passing the CR and defunding Obamacare in the process, or having the government shut down due to their arrogant stubbornness? And do most Americans care if the government shuts down for a while?

NO! We’d be relieved! Shut it down and keep it shut until the Democrats squeal “Uncle!”

So, Republicans should be all for King’s amendment, right?

Wrong.

Last night, the House Rules Committee headed by David Dreier of California, blocked the amendment, claiming that it violated House rules. This is absolutely false. As King stated in a Washington Times editorial today:

One of the tactics is to argue that my proposal violates the rules by legislating on an appropriations bill. It wasn’t a violation when Congress defunded the Vietnam War, and it’s not a violation now. The CR, the very bill that I seek to amend, has language in it that blocks the use of any funds to move detainees out of GuantanamoBay. By their definition, they’ve set a precedent and all I ask is to use the same tool to debate and vote on blocking the use of any funds to implement or enforce Obamacare.

Defunding Obamacare also would avoid $105.5 billion in Obamacare seed money slated for spending in 2011 that Nancy Pelosi slipped into the bill last year. So not only could Republicans keep their pledge to stop Obamacare, they would actually be doubling the budget cuts offered in the CR. Read more…

Obama wasted no time in telling us. He supports Mubarak’s opponents, and probably has been all along. The Los Angeles Times reported on Sunday that the Obama administration favors a role for the Muslim Brotherhood in a new Egyptian government.

The Muslim Brotherhood, the oldest extremist Muslim organization, is behind practically every Muslim terrorist organization ever formed. And while they may have publicly renounced violence as the LA Times article claims, internal documents tell a completely different picture.

And if that weren’t bad enough, Obama’s latest comment to Egypt’s leader is that “…an orderly transition …must begin now.”

Must begin. Now.

Simply stunning.

Juxtapose Obama’s statements toward our allies with his reaction to the genuine uprising that occurred last year in Iran. Tunisia: “Reform or be overthrown.” Egypt: “…an orderly transition …must begin now.” Iran: “It is not productive… to be seen as meddling.” Meanwhile, candidate Obama claimed the terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah have “legitimate claims,” and we all remember his mindless Counterterrorism Czar, John Brennan, reaching out to “moderate” Hezbollah members last spring. Hezbollah moderates?

The seeming inconsistency is astonishing. Unfortunately, there is a consistency. Obama uniformly sides with our enemies, but rarely, if ever our friends and allies. His administration is packed with far left radicals and vicious anti-Semites. And therein lies the rub, because what we are witnessing in reality is this President’s un-American, anti-American, treasonous ideology in full play.

Perhaps this is the real reason for Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, Code Pink’s Medea Benjamin and Jody Evans’ trips to Egypt in 2009. Following those trips, these same people made multiple visits to the White House.

The “Team B” name was coined for a 1976 critique of U.S. détente policy toward the Soviet Union. A group of highly-regarded analysts, “Team B,” found the assumptions of “Team A,” the détente crowd, to be fatally flawed—i.e. that the Soviets could be placated by accommodative policies—and that by naïvely misreading the enemy, détente was actually exposing the U.S. to lethal danger. This later became the foundation for the Reagan Doctrine.

The Team B II report continues this tradition, this time evaluating U.S. policy toward radical Muslims living within the U.S. The 372 page document addresses in detail a largely unrecognized but deadly Islamist infiltration, its methodologies, its goals, its frightening successes and what must be done to stem this tide.

It is impossible to underestimate the importance of this report. It has put together some of the best minds in foreign policy, military policy and domestic law enforcement. It is a thorough, sober, articulate exposé that overlooks no subtleties of argument, yet is written in crystal clear prose easily grasped by layman and expert alike.

While our Nation has been battling violent Muslim terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan, their brethren have been quietly settling in the United States for over sixty years. The strategies embedded in this stealth jihad can be summed up in one word: Shariah.

Shariah is a Muslim terms with which most Americans were unfamiliar prior to 9-11. It has been popularly misconstrued in the public mind as some kind of Islamic religious doctrine. Now, having witnessed this “religious doctrine” played out across our TV screens with the videoed beheadings of Nicholas Berg and journalist Daniel Pearle, reported stoning deaths of female rape victims for marital infidelity, honor killings, genital mutilation and other such vicious, abject lunacy, we have been forced to admit that it can be just a wee bit harsh as religious teachings go.

Team B II however, explains that it is not merely or even primarily religious law. Instead, shariah, or “the path,” is a complete “legal-political-military doctrine,” which they identify as, “The preeminent totalitarian threat of our time.”

The specific objectives are spelled out in a 1991 document seized from the Annandale, Virginia home of Muslim Brotherhood member Ismail Elbarasse. The document, An Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America, makes clear that while the Brotherhood was using peaceful means, its ends were the destruction of America, to be replaced with a totalitarian dictatorship ruled by shariah. Point 4 under “Process of Settlement” states:

The process of settlement is a “Civilization Jihadist Process” with all the word means. The Ikhwan [Muslim Brotherhood] must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and “sabotaging” its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions…(emphasis added.)

Another document described the phases of stealth jihad. It seems we are very close to the last phase:

Phase One: Phase of discreet and secret establishment of leadership.

Phase Two: Phase of gradual appearance on the public scene and exercising and utilizing various public activities (It greatly succeeded in implementing this stage). It also succeeded in achieving a great deal of its important goals, such as infiltrating various sectors of the Government, gaining religious institutions and embracing senior scholars. Gaining public support and sympathy. Establishing a shadow government (secret) within the Government.

Phase Three: Escalation phase, prior to conflict and confrontation with the rulers, through utilizing mass media. (Currently in progress).

Phase Four: Open public confrontation with the Government through exercising the political pressure approach. (It is aggressively implementing the above-mentioned approach). Training on the use of weapons domestically and overseas in anticipation of zero-hour. (It has noticeable activities in this regard).

Phase Five: Seizing power to establish their [sic] Islamic Nation under which all parties and Islamic groups are united.

These documents, which came to light in the 2004 Holy Land Foundation terrorist financing trial, are impossible to misinterpret, yet Team B II shows that the prevailing political culture has sought to placate American Islamists, turned a blind eye to their alarming activities and completely ignored the implications of shariah. In so doing, they have abdicated their Constitutional duty to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies; foreign and domestic…”

I spoke with both Team B II members Andrew McCarthy and Frank Gaffney for this article. McCarthy is a former Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney and was lead prosecutor against World Trade Center bombing mastermind, the “Blind Sheikh” Omar Abdel Rahman. He is Senior Fellow at the National Review Institute and Contributing Editor, National Review magazine. Gaffney is a former Reagan administration Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Policy and (Acting) President, Center for Security Policy. He is also host of Secure Freedom Radio, widely published writer and lead author of War Footing: Ten Steps America Must Take to Prevail in the War for the Free World

Our discussions centered on how to effectively tackle this problem. Both men agreed that we need to embark on a major campaign to educate the American people. Islamist infiltration of the U.S. has been ongoing since the days of the Eisenhower administration. The Islamists have hidden behind First Amendment religious freedom arguments and have been effective at intimidating law enforcement and the political structure against monitoring their activities too closely.

But they haven’t had to try too hard. Many politicians of both parties have bent over backwards to accommodate them. McCarthy pointed to articles by Shariah co-author Patrick Poole, who has documented some particularly egregious examples:

• The picture above shows Sheikh Kifah Mustapha (front row, second from left), a known agent of the terrorist group, Hamas, getting a tour of the FBI’s top secret National Counterterrorism Center as part of their “Muslim outreach” this past September. Mustapha raised money for Hamas as late as 2009 and is an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terror financing case.

• Mustapha was appointed this year as the first certified Muslim chaplain for the Illinois State Police. The appointment was revoked when the ISP were informed of his background.

• Al Qaeda Imam Anwar al-Awlaki, the Yemen-based American cleric linked to the Fort Hood shooter and subsequent terrorist plots, who recently proclaimed open-season on Americans, led a prayer meeting in Congress for the Congressional Muslim Staff Association shortly after 9-11. He also had lunch at the Pentagon.

• In 2006, U.S. Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-NY) complained to Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff that Islamic scholar Anwar Hajjaj had faced “unwarranted scrutiny” when re-entering the U.S. at Kennedy Airport. Hajjaj heads the Taibah International Aid Associaton and the World Assembly of Muslim Youth, both tagged as financial supporters of al Qaeda.

• Hajjaj also led prayers for the Congressional Muslim Staff Association, courtesy its founder, Jameel Johnson, Rep. Meeks then Chief of Staff.

• Johnson organized an Islamic conference that was cancelled by the House Sergeant-at-Arms due to terrorism ties of scheduled speakers.

• One of the scheduled speakers for the House event scheduled another conference in the Ohio State House. This one went off without a hitch, funded by taxpayers.

• The National Counterterrorism Center recruited a Muslim “De-radicalization expert,” Yasir Qadh, who was on the terrorist watch list.

• Muslim Students Association at Ohio State University was found to be funded by an Islamic terrorist financing group.

• Muslim student groups throughout the US are being trained by radical Muslim Brotherhood activists.

• A New Jersey judge ruled that a Muslim man may beat and rape his wife at will because shariah allows it. The victim’s plea for a restraining order in this case was denied. Fortunately the ruling was eventually reversed.

• Recently the state of Oklahoma voted to ban consideration of Shariah in any court proceedings. An Oklahoma judge has issued a restraining order preventing the law from taking effect following a lawsuit by CAIR.

• According to Andrew McCarthy, recently appointed Supreme Court judge Elena Kagan promoted shariah as dean of Harvard Law School. She helped develop a Saudi-funded program at the school called the “Islamic Finance Project,” specifically created to introduce shariah compliance to the U.S. finance sector.

• Secretary of State Hillary Clinton reversed a six-year ban on visits to the U.S. by Tariq Ramadan. Tariq is the son of founding Muslim Brotherhood member Said Ramadan and since returning has been aggressively pursuing civilization jihad. (B II Report, p. 112)

• According to Paul Williams at Atlas Shrugs: “special agents of the [FBI] are now compelled to undergo sensitivity training sessions so that they will not offend practitioners of Islam—even radical Islam—in the course of a criminal investigation.”

These are but a tiny subset of examples showing the extent to which Muslim radicals and their ideas have penetrated our legal, educational and governmental institutions to the highest levels. According to McCarthy, the Muslim Brotherhood-founded Muslim Students Association has chapters on 300 college campuses.

Political correctness has prevented many within the political/legal infrastructure from carefully examining the dangerous nature of these people and their designs, while official ignorance and/or Leftist ideology have allowed the Islamists to hide behind phony First Amendment religious freedom arguments.

McCarthy says however, that it is incorrect to consider Shariah as an expression of religious belief. Rather, Shariah is a complete system of law, dictating all aspects of life for Muslims. In that sense it has no legitimate religious defense. McCarthy made a point in our interview of stressing the supremacy of U.S. law. The Team B II Report states (pp. 226-227):

For one thing, the shariah legal code cannot be insinuated into America – even through stealthy means or democratic processes – without violating the

Constitution’s Article 6 Supremacy Clause, which requires that the Constitution “shall be the supreme Law of the land.”

For another, those who advocate the imposition of shariah in America must be considered ineligible to serve in the military, or hold state or federal office, insofar as Article 6 requires them to swear an “oath…to support this Constitution” – not any other legal code, like shariah. The same disqualifier would appear to govern with respect to immigrants or would-be naturalized citizens.

Lastly, advocacy of and engagement in jihad [holy war], of even the dawa [stealth jihad] variety, for the purpose of imposing shariah, supplanting the Constitution and overthrowing the government it mandates would – as a practical matter – constitute a felony violation of the U.S. Code’s prohibitions on treason, sedition and subversive activities.

This section explicitly recognizes that the Islamic offensive is criminal in nature. And the Team B II Report concludes that, “Virtually every provision of the U.S. Constitution can be juxtaposed with shariah practices that are in violent conflict with America’s foundational laws.”

McCarthy says it can be dealt with directly through vigorous enforcement of U.S. law. We talked, for example about the Jamaat al-Fuqra training camps around the country. These camps could be shut down overnight if we had the political will. In Colorado Springs, Colorado, one was. But other than that, and despite al-Fuqra’s known terrorist ties and strong evidence of illegal activities here, the camps have been left largely alone.

McCarthy stressed that Congressional hearings could serve the multiple purpose of exposing appeasers while concurrently educating the public about the magnitude of the problem. It could also serve as a starting point for criminal investigations.

Gaffney takes that one step further. He and other Team members assert that official acquiescence to Islamic radicals may in some cases constitute misprision of treason. This term refers to circumstances where one is aware that treason is occurring but does nothing to report it, essentially making the person an accessory to the crime.

I am with Gaffney on this one. For example, Hillary Clinton knows full well what Tariq Ramadan is up to. Using her position to allow someone like him into the U.S. is at best, misprision. The Report contains a case study that focuses on Obama administration Counter-terrorism Czar John Brennan (pp. 252-257). Brennan personifies the U.S. government’s increasingly servile and pandering attitude toward radical Islamic organizations and individuals. In so doing he sends an unmistakable message to domestic Islamic terrorists that the U.S. government is not inclined to challenge them. By default he is also sending a message to U.S. law enforcement to lay off. As Gaffney delicately put it, Brennan is at best, guilty of willful ignorance. At best.

Gaffney also adds that it is critical to recognize the role played by the radical left in promoting radical Islam. They are not only aware of the Islamists true goals, but are actively aiding and abetting them in their efforts to destroy our country. David Horowitz discussed this in his book, Unholy Alliance, Radical Islam and the American Left. This filthy network of traitors needs to be exposed and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Yet at this time, many sympathizers, like Hillary, occupy positions of power within our government.

Gaffney and Co. will be delivering copies of Team B II’s Report to the new Congress. Perhaps they will do the right thing and begin holding hearings on the dangers we face from radical Islam and the Americans who are supporting it.

It is way past time.

But another race has flown completely under the radar up to now. Conservative businessman Frank Mirabile has mounted a powerful challenge to radical liberal 7^th District incumbent, Elijah Cummings. Maryland’s 7^th encompasses largely rural Howard County, part of suburban Baltimore County and western Baltimore City.

Cummings is black. His constituency is disproportionately black. But that is the only thing they share in common. Like most liberals, Cummings uses his fellow blacks to remain comfortably ensconced in his lucrative, cushy job. And he does nothing, I repeat, nothing to help them.

Enter Frank Mirabile. A hardworking family man who built a successful landscaping business, he is dedicated to returning government to its Constitutional roots and getting it off our backs and out of our pocketbooks. Mirabile has a deep grasp of both economics and the needs of the district, unlike Cummings who uses it like a vending machine.

Frank has also done something Cummings hasn’t done in years, if ever. He has walked through the district numerous times. Feedback from residents is stunning:

• We are tired of the whole racism bit. We aren’t buying it. If you have solutions let us hear them. Please!
• We are sick of all the methadone maintenance clinics in our neighborhoods, breeding grounds for crime, drug dealing and filth.
• Our neighborhoods are neglected, run down and dirty.
• Trades are not taught in schools anymore. Why not?
• Illegal immigrants are doing all the “shovel ready” jobs.
• Taxes are too high, even for those on welfare.
• Crime is everywhere.
• We are sick of Cummings—he’s a phony!

And this is my favorite:

• Our American Dream is NOT to be on welfare!

They are fed up! And who could blame them?

Coming from a blue collar background, Mirabile has more in common with people in the district than the elitist Cummings. During his walk throughs he has been welcomed with open arms. He offered to set up impromptu rallies within those neighborhoods and many have volunteered their property to host events.

This is a sea change which I don’t think Democrats are even aware of. And as I have argued for years, the only reason more African-Americans do not join the Republican Party is that no one asks them to. At a Republican Party Central Committee meeting in Baltimore earlier this year, we were visited by a black man running for Sheriff. He said blacks are dying for change and literally begged the Committee to get Republican candidates to visit the district.

Well, Frank has done just that and the results are stunning. He has made amazing inroads on a shoestring budget, like so many Tea Party candidates this year. Going into the final stretch however, Mirabile needs the kind of advertizing dollars that will put him over the top.

Recall also: Baltimore City is the home state of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Can you imagine what a victory here would mean? Cummings has a large campaign war chest. Do what you can to support Frank in these last critical days.

Cummings is a member of the far left Congressional Black Caucus and part of the crew that fraudulently tagged Tea Partiers as “racists” at the healthcare rally last March. That day, Speaker Pelosi also walked arrogantly through the crowd with her oversized gavel, and passed the healthcare bill against our will so that “you can find out what’s in it.”

Cummings has comfortably owned his seat for sixteen years, never having to do more than lift the occasional token finger at ribbon-cutting ceremonies and special events. He has literally done nothing for the district.

Traveling through the city, one is stunned by the post-apocalypse look of almost every neighborhood. Most blocks have at least one boarded up building, in many neighborhoods whole areas are boarded and abandoned. Trash and empty lots abound. There are a total of 15,000 abandoned buildings in the city, 10,000 of which are owned by the city itself.

According to FBI crime statistics, Baltimore has the fourth highest murder rate in the country, it is number four in aggravated assault, and fifth in violent crime overall. They don’t call it Charm City for nothing.

Maryland floats on federal dollars and you’d think it could manage some inner city improvements. But endless regulatory red tape prevents the revitalization of these areas that can only be circumvented by pay to play politics or public-private “partnerships” of the kind that forced the resignation of Mayor Sheila Dixon last year. Cummings is fine with all that—a poster boy for this entrenched, corrupt, self-serving political culture.

According to the Census Bureau, despite bloated city and state bureaucracies, the Baltimore City black unemployment rate is 13.2 percent, well above the national average, while white and Hispanic unemployment rates are 5.1 and 7.2 percent respectively. A mere 51 percent of the black population is in the labor force, compared with 61 percent for whites and 67 percent for Hispanics.

Inner city blacks in Maryland, as elsewhere, are furious about how their jobs are being stolen by illegal immigrants. You’d think Cummings would take the pulse of his constituents on that subject. Instead he has voted for the illegals on every single relevant piece of legislation before Congress (from OpenCongress.org):

HR 3722 Amendment 1011 To require hospitals to document illegal alien patients and deny service when they can be safely sent home: NO

HR 5441 Amendment 968 To support Minuteman Project and deny Mexican government information regarding their dispositions along the border: NO

HR 6061 Secure Fence Act To build a fence and place surveillance equipment on the Southern border to reduce illegal entry: NO

HR 6095 Immigration Law Enforcement Act To affirm state and local governments’ right to enforce immigration laws: NO

HR 6094 Community Protection Act To restore Homeland Security’s authority to detain dangerous aliens, to ensure the removal of deportable criminal aliens, and combat alien gang crime. NO

Cummings also flagrantly defies the core beliefs of his constituents: he supports gay marriage. His constituents don’t. He supports partial birth abortion. His constituents don’t.

Cummings has refused repeated offers to debate, so Frank challenges him on his Facebook page. Following is an exchange that took place Sunday:

Cummings: Too many Marylanders have lost their homes due to foreclosure. Now we are finding that many foreclosures throughout the nation may have been initiated through fraudulent means. I have called on Governor O’Malley and Attorney General Gansler to create a 60-day moratorium on all foreclosures in Maryland, so we can get to the bottom of this. No family should lose their home because of fraud.

Mirabile: So tell me…after 14 years in office, Maryland being under democratic control…Why are Baltimore streets littered with 15,000 abandoned houses? Why are jobs leaving the city? Why cant’ you walk down the streets of West Baltimore with your family without feeling safe? Why have we abandoned trades in education?

What has been allowed to go on in the neighborhoods of the proud residents of West Baltimore is a crime!

After years and years of promises of empowerment with only a social services check being delivered, don’t you think it’s time for you, Congressman, to step down?

How can you say you are for family values when you voted for late term abortions? (Vote tally: Prohibit Partial-Birth/Late Term Abortion bill)

How can you say you are for family values when you voted for transportation of minors across state lines for abortion services without parental notification? (Vote tally: Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act)

Have you told the voters YOU VOTED YES to give yourself a raise in 2009 while millions of Americans lost their jobs?

Have you told the voters YOU VOTED YES for gay marriage?

Congressman Cummings your time has come to re-enter the private sector and learn what it’s like to earn a dollar by trust and not by a vote.

I ask you to step down and prove to the constituents of Congressional District 7 you are willing to live by the laws you impose upon us and walk the streets with your family.

One final note: I challenge you to come out of the shadows and debate the issues one on one. No canned questions, just an honest discussion on the problems the families and small businesses of Maryland face. You’ll be surprised how many families in the West side of Baltimore want opportunity not a hand out. Let’s meet and have this discussion for all to make up their minds.

Reading that, who would you want to represent you in the 7^th District? Cummings can only parrot the Reid, Pelosi, Obama script. His interest in his district only extends to the voting box. Watch this revealing video. Cummings concludes, “We can do better.”

He’s right. We can do better. Frank Mirabile is a real, conservative choice for Maryland’s 7^th District who wants to serve the people of that district, not the arm-twisting agenda of remote, globalist progressives. Let’s give MD-07 a real choice this year. Help Frank get elected.

Mirabile has the more conservative Howard and Baltimore Counties largely sown up and thus has focused his last efforts on the city. Now he has to double up on his message during these final critical days, and it is up to us to do all we can to help him out.
