CAIRO: You may be wondering why the dateline for a story about NASA’s Chief would read Cairo. That’s the point of this “I kid you not” story. Obama as you may know has been canceling space programs since becoming elected. According to the Chief Administrator of NASA their new frontier is better Muslim relations. On a trip to Cairo Charles Bolden set about to achieve his new task and was interviewed by Al Jazerra TV.
NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said in a recent interview that his “foremost” mission as the head of America’s space exploration agency is to improve relations with the Muslim world. Fox News.
This is too mind-boggling for the NIP to comment upon, so we’ll let you make your own judgement after watching the June 30th interview:
MILWAUKEE, WI: Peggy West is a member of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors and is calling for support of the Arizona boycott. She finds Arizona’s Governor Jan Brewer out of line for her desire to seal the border and thinks boycotting Arizona in retaliation is appropriate payback. After all, according to Ms. West, Arizona doesn’t even share a border with Mexico.
Congratulations Peggy for showing us why the left is so hard to deal with. Could it be that others on the left are like you, woefully ignorant of facts but still more than willing to opine based on their feelings and political orientation?
BABE HUGGETT: One of the most astute and witty political and cultural journalists of our time, Mark Steyn, recently mocked President Obama as a “modern major generalist” in reference to Obama’s over-arching, bloodless speeches, pedantic dependence on failed political theory and tanking presidency. Steyn so enjoyed his pun that he used it again in a different article and who can blame him? It’s a brilliant observation but how many readers are even familiar with Gilbert & Sullivan’s song, I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major General, in particular and it’s operetta in general, The Pirates of Penzance?
Now, I am not going to go into the history, Victorian politics or plot of the The Pirates of Penzance or the artistic tensions and musical rivalries between Gilbert & Sullivan here. That is for the curious to find out for themselves. So my apologies to Gilbert & Sullivan but what I am going to do is, in my own way, bring their satiric observation of Peter Principle leaders up-to-date: Read more…
PORT CHESTER, NY: Port Chester has 30,000 residents and nearly half are Hispanics. The village is run by six elected trustees, none of whom have been Hispanic. The Federal court says that the dim-witted people in this village should have elected an Hispanic to the village trustees by now and since they haven’t, federal judge Stephen Robinson has torn up the traditional one man, one vote system that our country has used since its founding and directed that each citizen vote up to six times beginning as early as five days before the election day.
Arthur Furano voted early — five days before Election Day. And he voted often, flipping the lever six times for his favorite candidate. Furano cast multiple votes on the instructions of a federal judge and the U.S. Department of Justice as part of a new election system crafted to help boost Hispanic representation…
Although the village of about 30,000 residents is nearly half Hispanic, no Latino had ever been elected to any of the six trustee seats, which until now were chosen in a conventional at-large election. Most voters were white, and white candidates always won.
Federal Judge Stephen Robinson said that violated the Voting Rights Act, and he approved a remedy suggested by village officials: a system called cumulative voting, in which residents get six votes each to apportion as they wish among the candidates. He rejected a government proposal to break the village into six districts, including one that took in heavily Hispanic areas. Jim Fitzgerald, AP
Some voters have given all their votes to one candidate in the hopes to help stack the deck, presumably much to the satisfaction of Judge Robinson. The election is now going on and final results aren’t in yet. This election scheme could be the one that finally puts Alfred E. Neuman into office.
What if the newly rigged system fails to elect a Hispanic? We here at the NIP certainly hope that Judge Robinson will throw out the election and just go up to Port Chester and pick the trustees he wants. That’s how they do it in Iran, Venezuela and other more modern countries.
BABE HUGGETT: For the malleable young, nothing beats having a role model to look up to and emulate. That’s why sports figures, rock musicians and celebrities need to be so circumspect in their lives. They’re not, of course, because it’s in their commercial interest to keep the current toxic popular culture churning away for their risk adverse, corporate masters. Scandals help to hide the lack of talent amongst the unoriginal, cookie-cutter star set while generating you-can’t-pay-for-this-type-of-publicity headlines sure to push off real news in favor of the mental cotton candy floss so beloved by commercial interests.
However, this type of decadent, inartistic slovenliness gets repetitiously boring after a while and a teen’s radar is exquisitely tuned to winnowing out the bogus from the merely banal. So what’s a poor teen looking for someone to pattern themselves after supposed to do? Our past heroes and heroines are either excoriated for not being politically correct, if they are even mentioned at all, or are considered so out-of-date as to be irrelevant. In fact, what with all this eco-greenie Gaia worship going on in our public schools, humans themselves are not only not held up as something worth while but actively despised for their respective and collective carbon footprints. Even that current socialist secular living saint, President Obama, is proving to have feet of clay for them because BP oil is still gushing into the Gulf of Mexico soiling US beaches, destroying Louisiana tide water ecosystems and killing untold numbers of marine and animal life all while he goes on yet another vacation and/or tees off at the nearest golf course. TORONTO: The US may be importing Canadian-style healthcare from our friendly neighbors to the north, but it’s nice to know it’s not a one-way street. It appears now that Canadians are importing US-style prevarication in their normal course of doing business. For us here in the US who may not be familiar with Rahim Jaffer the NIP will try to lay out the basics.
Rahim Jaffer was the first Muslim elected to the Canadian Parliament, serving from 1997 to 2008. After his defeat in the hotly contested 2008 election Jaffer reinvented himself as the “access point” for Canadian government money. According to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Jaffer purported that doors for government money “were wide open to him”:
Two businessmen who heard Rahim Jaffer speak last August at a Toronto-area restaurant believed the former MP would be their connection to millions of dollars in government grants.
The men, who spoke to the CBC on condition of anonymity, said they were lured to the Aug. 25 meeting by an email that boasted: “Rahim Jaffer, who is the Canadian government money access point for us, will be in attendance.”
“We left with the impression Jaffer was the source of funding,” said the president of one company who pitched to Jaffer and his business colleague Nazim Gillani, the author of the email and the organizer of the meeting…
The two businessmen say they were presented with Jaffer’s business card, which indicated he was an MP, and his address was Centre Block at the House of Commons. Jaffer had lost his seat a year earlier. John Nicol and Dave Seglins, CBC News
ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE: While 38 million Poles mourned the tragic deaths of their President Lech Kaczynski, his wife, Maria, and dozens of top Polish government officials, last Sunday Barack Obama decided it was an opportune time to take in his 32nd round of golf since becoming President. President Obama is as good at offending our allies as he is in bowing to our enemies.
Last month Obama snubbed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his visit to the White House. Barack Obama was mad that the Israelis did not fall in line with Obama’s order to cease settlements in Jerusalem, their nation’s capital. Obama’s dictate was meant to show the Arab world his power over the Israelis. The NIP further speculates that their disagreement also extended to Obama’s buying time for the Iranians to arm themselves with nuclear weapons.
Last year Obama cancelled Poland’s missile shield, exposing Eastern Europe to Iran’s nuclear threat. With Iran’s nukes looming and US striking capacity just a few years away, it may soon be time for Poland to golf while the US mourns.
