WASHINGTON: When asked the question of what was “the most shocking, stunning thing” that she gleaned from the review on the fizzled panty bomber Napolitano replied:

I think, following up on that, not just the determination of al Qaeda and al Qaeda Arabian Peninsula, but the tactic of using an individual to foment an attack, as opposed to a large conspiracy or a multi-person conspiracy such as we saw in 9/11, that is something that affects intelligence. It really emphasizes now the renewed importance on how different intelligence is integrated and analyzed, and threat streams are followed through. And, again, it will impact how we continue to review the need to improve airport security around the world.

Judging by her comment, the NIP is surprised that Napolitano had even heard of al Qaeda before the attack. She’s surprised at their determination? That’s the problem with the Obama administration, they don’t take al Qaeda seriously. Al Qaeda destroyed the twin towers, didn’t that take determination? DETROIT: Christmas day’s terrorist attack by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab represents a colossal failure of intelligence and airline security forces. US media downplay the incident, but overseas headlines read  ”Detroit terror attack is a major intelligence and security failure.“ The US embassy was warned by the young man’s own father, he was on a watch list and his multiple-entry US visa was renewed even though the British revoked their visa. He purchased his one-way ticket with cash. The flight originated from Nigeria, he boarded with no passport, no checked baggage but with explosive chemicals. Yet in spite of all of this Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano assures us, “the system worked.” Is this a new system you have instituted Ms. Napolitano? Now we’re on our own. You let the terrorists board and leave it up to us passengers to defend ourselves? And this is change we can believe in?
